The Requirements

To be a good fit for the Senior Project Engineer, Commercial T.I. Construction opportunity you will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Construction Management
  • The ability to:
    • Read and understand shop drawings.
    • Understand and utilize buyout and cost reporting tools.
    • Value engineer a project.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of general contract and subcontract terms and conditions.
  • An understanding of the cost of building components, building types and tenant improvements
  • General awareness of construction law, lien laws and building codes.
  • Time management skills.
  • People management skills.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project.
  • The ability to master company software (currently Sage 100 Contractor, Procore and Bluebeam).
Just as important will be the following characteristics and competencies:
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with solid collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in English, preferably with above average written and verbal communication and listening skills.
  • A high degree of professionalism and a customer focus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle pressure.

The Role

Your mission will be to successfully support Project Managers and Superintendents of assigned projects to ensure smooth operations throughout the construction project from preliminary pricing to finish and closeout. This will include providing consistently excellent customer service to clients and trade partners, and demonstrating company core values in all business activities.

You will work on projects of varying sizes, including complex ones valued at more than $1 million. Projects will involving interacting with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, commercial real estate brokers, property managers and owners, landlords, and municipal agencies having jurisdiction through all phases of construction project. You can expect to work on multiple projects of varying scope and size at any given time.

With Project Manager oversight, you will:
  • Develop scope of work and prepare cost estimates, RFIs, change orders, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Provide project estimate and take-off quantities by trades.
  • Handle pricing management, including preparing RFPs, conducting and coordinating subcontractor pricing walk-thrus, and tracking bids utilizing project management estimating tools.
  • Qualify subcontractor bids and negotiate buyouts.
  • Ensure consistent supply of information between and among the field, the client, the architect, the Project Manager, property management, subcontractors and any other parties involved on the project.
  • Ensure critical path milestones and requirements are on track and met throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Issue subcontractor master agreements, notices to proceed, and change orders
  • Perform all document control duties, including but not limited to RFPs, project directories, drawing logs, RFIs and RFI logs, submittals and submittal logs, schedules, bulletins, meeting minutes, notices to proceed, change orders, contracts/SPAs or work orders.
  • Maintain organized project files on company servers and hard copy.
  • Provide all necessary information required by project Superintendent.
  • Provide consistent office support by regularly being available during business hours.
  • Provide any additional support required for successful completion of the project.
